Standardized patients (SPs) are individuals who are hired to "act out" medical illnesses and other conditions, often repeatedly, as a teaching exercise for medical students and other learners at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine is a two-dose immunization series which provides immunity to chickenpox. For adults, this vaccine is recommended only for those who lack natural immunity. Occupational Health provides Varicella vaccine at no charge for employees when needed to meet VUMC immunization compliance requirements whose immunity test shows they do not have immunity to varicella, or for those have begun the vaccine series and need a completion dose. Varicella vaccine is available outside of compliance requirements and will be charged to your personal insurance.

Occupational Health Clinic offers blood pressure checks on a walk in basis. There is also a self check blood pressure station in the Courtyard Cafe.

Hepatitis B Vaccine is provided at no charge to Vanderbilt faculty/staff who are exposed to human blood or other potentially infectious materials in their job, and when needed to meet VUMC immunization compliance requirements. This is offered at multiple locations. 

This vaccine protects against certain strains of bacterial meningitis. Occupational Health provides this vaccine at no charge to faculty and staff who have an occupational reason to take meningitis vaccine, such as:

Vanderbilt Home Care Services offers a variety of skilled and non-skilled services to meet the needs of the clients and their families at home or in the hospital. We provide private duty services that include nursing, home health aides, companion care and inpatient sitter services 24 hours a day. ​An online screening is not a substitute for a complete mental health evaluation. It does not result in a diagnosis. It can, however, provide an indication of whether or not a person has symptoms consistent with a particular illness.

Vanderbilt faculty/staff who are exposed to high levels of noise at work will have a hearing test when they start working. The hearing test is repeated every year as long as the person is exposed to high levels of noise.
